Top Carpooling and Ridesharing Apps in Kenya on Android, Q4 2024

In the fourth quarter of 2024, the ridesharing and carpooling app market in Kenya showed varied performance among the top players on the Android platform. Here’s a look at the trends observed for the leading apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.

Bolt: Request a Ride maintained strong weekly download numbers, peaking at approximately 26K in early December. Active users increased steadily, reaching around 1.3M in early December before declining to just under 1M by the end of the month.

Faras - Request a Ride experienced a significant spike in downloads in late October, hitting over 32K, although this number decreased towards the end of the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 300K to 340K throughout the period.

Uber - Request a ride saw a steady increase in weekly downloads, climbing from approximately 9.1K at the start of the quarter to over 13K by mid-December. Active users showed a similar upward trend, peaking at over 610K in early December.

Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver had a consistent download rate, with a noticeable rise in late November reaching 3.5K. Active users also increased slightly, maintaining numbers around 19K to 22K.

Uber Lite experienced modest download numbers, with a notable rise in late December reaching approximately 1.7K. Active user numbers followed a similar pattern, peaking at around 3.7K towards the end of the quarter.
